Southern Water wins IT Initiative of the Year Award
The Utility Achievement Awards ceremony was held on the 8th December 2008 at London's premier venue, the Grosner House Hotel, Park Lane.
We are a proud sponsor of this annual celebration of excellence in the UK's Utility industry. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Industry and recognise innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality.
Southern Water won the IT Initiative of the Year Award at this award ceremony for their entry 'Working Sharper'.
The IT Initiative award recognised AMT-SYBEX's Field Data Collection System (FDCS ®), which is used to issue work to staff working in the field and capture jobs that have been completed.
The award summary said: "Ensuring Southern Water's 750 field staff are working as effectively as possible is essential to maintain high levels of customer service and productivity."
"The roll-out of the mobile hand-held terminals led to a 15 per cent increase in jobs done, significant cost savings and a better service for customers - with the support of the field workers using the system."
Paul Davies, Southern Water's Director of IT, said: "Receiving such a prestigious award is a significant achievement for Southern Water and is also recognition of our commitment to improving the business using innovative technology which will deliver customer service improvements."
Judges said: "This candid submission demonstrated improvement in problem areas and achievement of key objectives."
